Catholic Central–DeLaSalle Final

Some people called this game the Boys Bowl.  There were beauty queens from Mercy and Ladywood.  There were big crowds and tailgates.  There was a big program filled with ads which filled the CC coffers. H.S. Football purists know that the true Boys Bowl is between CC and Brother Rice and is played at  Wisner Stadium.  As for today’s version of the Boys Bowl, DeLaSalle (#6) held off Detroit Catholic Central (Honorable Mention) 12-7.  Read the rest of this entry »

Brother Rice–OLSM Final

In an offensive battle that saw five lead changes and a tie, O.L. St. Mary’s came back from a four point deficit to score with 6:05 left in the game and beat Brother Rice 31-28.  Read the rest of this entry »

Adams–Southfield Final

Rochester Adams (#2) narrowly escaped with a 28-26 victory over Southfield (#16) tonight.  Adams placekicker, George Patsarikis, made up for three missed extra points (two wide, one blocked) by kicking a 19 yard field goal with 9:04 left in the game for the winning margin.  Read the rest of this entry »
